Description

Skiing Holiday - Montgenèvre, France with Neilson.  As one of the oldest resorts in France, Montgenèvre retains the personal feel of a small village whilst allowing access for intermediates to the mighty “Milky Way” ski area just over the border in Italy.

The town became fashionable in the 1930s and has remained traditional and pretty, even as the skiing has expanded. The main ski area straddles France & Italy and is easily accessible from within the heart of the village, offering stunning scenery. The immediate runs are particularly suited to beginners and intermediates whilst the more advanced skier can enjoy the wider area and fantastic off piste opportunities.

Famously snow-sure, Montgenèvre has one of the best records in the Southern Alps, receiving regular dumps of snow from storms forced up the valley from the west. Recently a bypass was built diverting the busy main road from the centre of the village, meaning heavy through traffic is a thing of the past. There has never been a better time to visit this high, snow-sure resort.

Good For:
 - Quiet Nightlife
 - Self Drive and Accommodation Only Options

Beginners
An excellent resort in which to learn to ski with plenty of gentle slopes located close to the main village. The local ski school has gained an enviable reputation for patient encouragement from English-speaking instructors.

Intermediates
Intermediate skiers keen to progress can take advantage of the long cruising blue and red runs and the more adventurous black runs. The wide pistes from Les Anges and Le Querelay are particularly suitable for the intermediate skier.

Advanced
Montgenèvre offers some testing mogul runs and wonderful off-piste opportunities around the Rocher de l’Aigle. For the more enthusiastic skier (conditions permitting), you can ski into neighbouring Italy and enjoy the varying terrain the “Milky Way” has to offer.

Snowboarding
A dedicated snowboard park with half-pipe (conditions permitting) will give experienced boarders as much air as they can handle. Wide open gentle slopes provide novices with a great place to learn. Once again the Milky Way is available to boarders with fantastic tree-lined runs and open bowls.

About Neilson

We've been around for around 25 years. We started as two separate companies, one providing top-end ski holidays and the other taking people sailing in Greece. For around two decades we became better and better at putting together holidays, one company doing fun things in the snow, the other having adventures in the Med. Then, in 1999, Thomas Cook, who owned both companies, decided that it would make sense for us to join together. That was when the famous orange logo appeared, and Neilson as we know it came into existence.
