Description
Skiing Holiday - Val d’Isère, France with Neilson. The world-famous resort of Val d’Isère is set high in the mountains of the Savoie Alps boasting an excellent snow record, massive ski area, extensive shopping and an abundance of bars and restaurants. A contrasting mix of old and new accommodation spreads along the valley from La Daille at the entrance of Val d’Isère to the main centre 2km away (the resort is well serviced by a regular bus service running late into the night).Both areas have easy access to the efficient and extensive lift system connecting neighbouring Tignes. The renowned “Espace Killy” ski domain offers some of the best skiing in Europe. Val d’Isère is ideal if you want to ski hard, party hard and live to excess. It is a definite must to visit in your skiing or boarding travels.

Beginners
Beginners have free access to several lifts on the nursery slopes both at Le Savonette and at La Daille. However these can get quite busy. After a few lessons with the ski school, it won’t be long before you can enjoy the many gentle, well-prepared runs on the upper slopes – in particular on the plateau at Solaise. Beginners should purchase their lift pass in resort as the ski school and rep can advise you of the best pass to purchase. You will probably be able to use the free lifts for the first few days of your lessons.
Intermediates
Between Le Fornet and Tignes, a mind-boggling maze of lifts and runs head in all directions. As well as scores of long, wide pistes well above the tree-line, there is plenty of gentle piste skiing and opportunities for intermediates to get a feel of powder and moguls.
Advanced
There’s virtually no limit for adventurous skiers – experts come here year after year and still find new challenges to test their skill and nerve. Breathtaking World Cup courses, steep mogul fields, the blackest of black runs, deep powder bowls and mile after mile of untracked snow, as well as hang gliding and paragliding – Val d’Isère has it all!
Snowboarding
The “Espace Killy” has long been established as one of the most extensive, exciting snowsports areas in the world. Snowboarders are spoilt for choice with a half-pipe and a seemingly endless supply of pisted and unpisted terrain plus a snowboard park. Beginners, intermediates and advanced will be more than satisfied with this incredible area.

About Neilson
We've been around for around 25 years. We started as two separate companies, one providing top-end ski holidays and the other taking people sailing in Greece. For around two decades we became better and better at putting together holidays, one company doing fun things in the snow, the other having adventures in the Med. Then, in 1999, Thomas Cook, who owned both companies, decided that it would make sense for us to join together. That was when the famous orange logo appeared, and Neilson as we know it came into existence.
