Description

French Language & Bordeaux Wine Course in Bordeaux, France.  It's not all about sitting in a classroom... picking up a language is as much about getting out there and doing it as it is about learning verb tables. Your group language classes will take place in the morning, leaving the afternoons free to indulge in a brand new activity or perhaps an old favourite.

So whether you're a beginner or a pro, you can share your passion with others from across the globe and come back having learnt a lot more than just the language. Single-level groups, 8 to 12 students maximum, ensure easy participation and a true group dynamic as well as individual attention from the teacher.

General French program & objectives
-> practice of spoken French in communicative situations and a cultural approach to the language
-> development of linguistic proficiency (written and oral expression / written and oral comprehension / interpersonal communication)
-> communicative methods combining individual development and group dynamics (group work, role plays, etc.)

Oenology program & objectives
-> discover multiple facets of the world of wine: history, culture, vinification techniques, tasting methods, marketing
-> discover the rich scope of wine vocabulary, learn about its precision and poetry

This course requires no prior knowledge of oenology. The teacher is a specialist who adapts course content to suit beginners or enthusiasts alike and can also offer training to suit professionals.

The School 
The school is situated in a spacious 19th century, three-storey building in the heart of the city. It houses 15 bright, air-conditioned classrooms, a self-study room with internet access and a lounge leading onto a pleasant indoor patio. The programmes are carefully structured but sufficiently flexible to allow every student to progress in line with their level and learning pace. The spontaneity of teachers, combined with their interactive and communicative teaching methods, ensures a fun learning environment for students as well as excellent preparation for practical everyday situations.

Students can borrow text books or purchase them for a fee of 20 euros. Internet facilities are available in the school for 20 euros (unlimited use). Courses must be booked at least 7 days before arrival.

Out and About
Revolution and Resistance were once strong in Bordeaux and today its museums, fountains and squares live to tell the tale in their various shapes and forms. But few people come here without exploring the outlying areas…take the medieval hilltop village of St-Emilion, perched above the vineyards, or the long sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast. The Bassin d'Arcachon is also worth a visit, not only as a great place to sample oysters but also for its slowly advancing sand dune. And yes, dare we say it, the gently rolling hills of Médoc and Margaux are home to some impressive châteaux and rather refreshing vineyards.

Best Time to Go
The Bordeaux climate enjoys moderate temperatures in both winter and summer. There are on average 2,000 hours of sunshine per year. The driest period runs from May to September, but even in the rest of the year it barely ever rains more than 6 days a month. Temperatures can rise up to 30°C in summer and and go down to 3°C in winter.
