Students who have attained a high level of comprehension will be given the opportunity to hold a group concert in one of Verona's historic sites which commonly host these types of perfomances.
L'Arena During the Centuries Verona's classical Roman amphitheatre, L'Arena, is rich in tradition, hosting one of Europe's most prestigious open air opera festivals. It attracts tourists and devotees from all over the world. For decades, the operas, concerts, and ballets performed there have brought luminous artistic talents such as Maria Callas, Giuseppe Di Stefano, Mario Del Monaco, Carla Fracci, Franco Corelli, Renata Tebaldi, Mirella Freni, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, and many others to its stage.
Constructed early in the 1st century A.D., it was built in elliptical form with an original capacity of thirty thousand spectators. The first opera performance at L'Arena was at the inauguration of Verona's opera festival on August 10, 1913, when "Aida", by Guiseppe Verdi, was chosen to celebrate his 100th birthday. During the 20th century, operas, ballets, gala concerts and also jazz, pop and rock music have been performed at L'Arena.
