Description

2 Week Yacht Sailing Flotilla Holiday - Ionian Sea, Greece with Neilson.  The Ionian is one of the Mediterranean's most popular yachting destinations with gentle breezes and a scattering of picturesque islands and sheltered harbours offering the perfect introduction to sailing.

The Southern Ionian is ideal for the less experienced sailor due to its sheltered waters and generally shorter routes, whilst the Northern Ionian offers more adventurous sailing with longer passages, less crowded waters and steady breezes.

Good For:

The Southern Ionian is ideal for the less experienced sailor due to its sheltered waters and generally shorter routes, whilst the Northern Ionian offers more adventurous sailing with longer passages, less crowded waters and steady breezes.

 - Beginner and intermediate sailors
 - Light winds, generally north west, force 2-4
 - Stunning sailing scenery
 - Short transfer
 - Singles, couples, groups and families

Rising out of the clear, turquoise sea, midway between Greece and Italy, these fertile islands are a rich colourful tapestry of vineyards, olive groves and fruit orchards, setting them apart from the barren rocky terrain of other Greek islands.

Ionian Classic 2 week Flotilla
This classic two week flotilla allows for more free sailing and a thorough exploration of this stunning sailing area, taking in both the northern and southern Ionian. The following is an example of the south-north route, designed to give you a taster of the places you may visit whilst on flotilla, the north-south route follows this in reverse.

Please note routes may change depending on the size of the flotilla, time of year and weather conditions.

Sunday - Nidri - Arrival Day
When you arrive you will move onto your yacht located on the pontoon in Nidri, ready to start your 2 weeks on flotilla the following day

Monday - Sivota
The picturesque village of Sivota on the island of Lefkas is situated in an enclosed bay. En route you can anchor in one of the few public bays on the prestigious Onassis Island.

Tuesday - Fiscardo
Made famous by the book ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ and the subsequent film. One of our stops, Fiscardo is an old picturesque village situated on the island’s northern tip.

Wednesday - Frikes
A picture postcard setting at the bottom of a wooded ravine.

Thursday - Kalamos
A sleepy village with a couple of great tavernas and a small pebble beach.

Friday - Vonitsa
Take a detour into the ‘inland sea’ and the port of Vonitsa, complete with 17th Century Venetian castle. This landlocked gulf is one of the best places in the Ionian to spot dolphins.

Saturday - Preveza Town

The pedestrian waterfront of Preveza Town has a good array of trendy bars and cafés. However, walk away from the seafront a few streets and you will experience a more traditional way of life.

Sunday - Parga
Steeped in history, the beautiful, traditional harbour town of Parga is full of life with great restaurants, tavernas and traditional shops.

Monday - Giaos

A beautiful town on the island of Paxos, built around one of the best natural harbours in the northern Ionian.

Tuesday - Lakka

A pretty little town, sheltered by impressive mountains, perched on the northern tip of Paxos.

Wednesday - Petriti
A small hamlet on the east coast of Corfu set in an attractive bay with great snorkelling and swimming in the crystal clear water

Thursday - Corfu Town

The capital of the most northerly Ionian island, there are many beautiful Venetian buildings and the town is well worth a visit.

Friday - Platarias
A relatively quiet bay and harbour, with a good sandy beach and a few tavernas and cafés.

Saturday - Mourtos
Located on the mainland in a beautiful wooded setting. The village has several small bays and a good variety of waterfront tavernas.

Sunday - Departure Day

Marina and Mooring Fees
You will very rarely need to pay mooring fees in Greece, but if you do it is usually only a few Euros per night.

About Neilson
We've been around for around 25 years. We started as two separate companies, one providing top-end ski holidays and the other taking people sailing in Greece. For around two decades we became better and better at putting together holidays, one company doing fun things in the snow, the other having adventures in the Med. Then, in 1999, Thomas Cook, who owned both companies, decided that it would make sense for us to join together. That was when the famous orange logo appeared, and Neilson as we know it came into existence.
