Nepal Annapurna Panorama Trekking, Rafting & Wildlife Viewing Holiday with Sherpa Expeditions. If this is your first time to Nepal, or if you feel you would like to do more than ‘just’ trekking, then this is the tour for you!
Visit the Sherpa Expeditions Website for more information
There is a compact fully supported trek that strides along the viewpoints towards the Himalayan giants in the Annapurna region, followed by a couple of days rafting down the mild cataracts of the Trisuli River. Next there is a visit to Chitwan with the possibility of coming face to face with a Tiger! Well you will most certainly rub shoulders with an elephant or two and maybe a well armoured Indian Rhino! Finally while returning to Kathmandu, we have a night in the Daman resort with views as far as Mount Everest!
After a couple of nights in Kathmandu, adjusting to the new surroundings, you are flown to Nepal’s second city Pokhara for the trek. Our route shuns the heavily trekked trails to the west and it skirts the graceful sacred ‘fish tail’ mountain of Machhapuchhare (22,492ft) and presents views of the great crest of Annapurna II (26,041ft). In the lower valleys we pass through Brahmin and Chettri villages, while higher up we will meet Gurungs and Magars, those hardy hill folk famed for their exploits as Gurkha soldiers. The trek is on the easier side of the trekking scale, but nevertheless requires good stamina as it involves some steep hills up the valley sides!
On your return to Pokhara, after an evening’s recuperation and maybe some shopping, we gear up for our whitewater rafting trip! This is easy going, yet exciting with an overnight camp by the river. The degree of excitement depends upon water levels, but it is generally quite a relaxing experience!
After an exhilarating trek and rafting trip, become a naturalist for a couple of days for a complete contrast at the famous Royal Chitwan National park. The animals that people come to see are the One-Horned Rhino and the Bengal Tiger but both animals are extremely rare and you are unlikely to see the tiger as the jungle is thick and dense.
Popular activities include elephant rides, dawn and dusk tours when the animals and bird life are at their most active. There are over 400 species of birds here alone and this incredible variety is well worth the jungle walk and view tower visit. On the way back to Kathmandu, we have a night in the resort of Daman, at 2322m, this is claimed by some to be the most spectacular place to view the main Nepal Himalayan chain from Dhalaugiri to Makalu, including of course Mount Everest.
