Self-Drive walking holidays in Andalucia, Spain with Walk Andalucia.  Off-the-beaten-path, self drive walking holidays in the South of Spain.

Andalucia in the South of Spain is one of the best walking areas in Europe – it simply cannot be rivalled for variety of scenery, climate, spectacular mountains, history, culture and some of the most interesting flora and fauna to be found anywhere in the world.

Our holidays focus on walking, culture and nature. We offer comfortable accommodation in reformed village houses with good healthy local food in a friendly and inclusive environment. Our holidays are about exploring hidden Spain, introducing others to the local culture, history, architecture and gastronomy.

Before you depart, we will consult closely with you to ensure that your walking holiday exactly matches your requirements. We have a wide range of itineraries available ranging from introductory through to very challenging walking in the beautiful Axarquia. And if you prefer to intersperse your walking with some cultural visits, why not include an optional excursion to the beautiful Alhambra at Granada?

Price includes twin/double en suite accommodation in a reformed and comfortable old village house; transfer from Malaga Airport; car hire for the duration of your holiday, walking notes; maps; guidebook. You will also receive an orientation tour of the village and initial briefing from local tour guides. Does not include meals or flights.

Day-by-day itinerary (Sample)

Day 1: Collect your car from Malaga and drive to Torrox Pueblo (40 minutes) to meet our local guides, Gill & Dave Armstead, settle in with an orientation tour of your village and discussion of your itinerary.

Day 2: Competa to Acebuchal A walk of about 4 hours, commencing with a climb via a dry stream bed to Puerta Collado, a mountain pass at almost 3000 feet, with incredible panoramic views.

Day 3: Maro & Canyons This exhilarating walk of around 5 hours commences in the picturesque seaside village of Maro.

Day 4: Rio de la Miel (The river of honey) From the river itself the track climbs steeply through olive and almond groves to the ridge summit, from where views along the rocky coastline to the east open up.

Day 5: Optional Rest Day Perhaps an optional excursion (extra charge) to the Alhambra Palace in Granada or take a bus tour to the beautiful city of Malaga.

Day 6: Cortijo Imam A challenging walk through wild countryside to a remote ruin in the most spectacular location imaginable.

Day 7: Cruz Pinto & Frigiliana A relatively short but nonetheless testing walk starting from the pretty white mountain village of Frigiliana.

Day 8: Return home.
