Scuba Diving Holiday in Dahab, Bay of Aqaba, Egypt with Neilson.  With year-round sunshine, warm water and reliable consistent winds, Dahab is an amazing playground for a wide range of activties.

Dahab lies at the foot of the majestic red tinted mountains of the Sinao, lapped by the clear turquoise waters of the Gulf of Aqaba. The beautiful crescent shaped bay is home to a number of low rise hotels built in traditional style and a handful of relaxing beachfront bars.

Dahab retains a small town feel and is much quieter and more traditional than some other Egyptian resorts. In recent years, it has become a mecca for divers and windsurfers and with 300 days a year of wind above Force 4, you will get great conditions at almost anytime of the year.

The town of Dahab still retains much of its rustic charm with the tourist centre of Masbet full of cafés, restaurants, colourful markets and great shopping.

Egypt is a fascinating country to visit. Its culture and history, combined with the chance to visit world-renowned archaeological sites, offer an experience unlike any other Neilson destination.

The Dive Sites

The Blue Hole
The Blue Hole is the most famous dive site in Dahab. It is a hole in the reef approximately 55m wide and over 150 m deep, well beyond the realm of the recreational diver. There is an archway that breaks through the reef at 55m. The archway is a very advanced dive and is for mixed gas diving only. Dives within the Ble Hole are conducted to 30m maximum. Towards the end of the dive there is a saddle in the reef at about 6m where you can enjoy the beauty of the outer reef.

The Canyon
Equally as famous as the Blue Hole, teh entrance to the dive site is from a shallow lagoon just a few steps from the shore line. Once outside the lagoon at about 10-14m is the entrance to the Canypn. It is a large ravine cut into the ocean floor from 12m to approximately 50m. There are various large openings with lots to see including beautiful hard and soft corals, glassfish and much, much more.

Ras Mohammed National Park
Located at the point where the Gulfs of Suez and Aqaba meet, this dive area is renowned for a number of sites, including ‘Shark Reef’, ‘Anemone City’ and ‘Jackfish Alley’.

Jackson Reef
The most northerly site for day dive boats, this superb example of wall diving offers potential sightings of sharks, turtles and other big fish and, if you’re lucky, possibly a hammerhead during the summer months. The numerous buttresses and gullies are awash with shoals of trigger fish, banner fish and masked puffers drawn to the colourful array of corals and sponges.

Wreck of the Thistlegorm
One of the most famous wreck dives in the world, the Thistlegorm was delivering war supplies to the British army when she was bombed in 1941. The wreck is now teeming with sea life including barracuda, snapper and huge groupers. This dive is subject to weather conditions and is available at an extra local charge.

There's a range of PADI Dive Courses available from our centre in Egypt. All courses and open water dive packages and excursions are pre-bookable through us at a supplement. We advise you to pre-book your diving to avoid disappointment and secure the best price.

About Neilson
We've been around for around 25 years. We started as two separate companies, one providing top-end ski holidays and the other taking people sailing in Greece. For around two decades we became better and better at putting together holidays, one company doing fun things in the snow, the other having adventures in the Med. Then, in 1999, Thomas Cook, who owned both companies, decided that it would make sense for us to join together. That was when the famous orange logo appeared, and Neilson as we know it came into existence.
