Eco Friendly Holiday Cottage in North Stainmore, near Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.  Reached by a good tarmac single track lane and a short (1/8 mile) farm track, Sanctuary Barn is ideally placed for that peaceful ‘get away from it all’ break and yet easily accessed and centrally placed for exploring Cumbria, the Yorkshire Dales and the Northern Dales.

On the edge of an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ there are footpaths straight from the doorstep. Situated next to the owner's house, the barn has been lovingly converted using traditional methods and materials with ecological principles in mind. Stone features and open beamed ceilings combine beautifully with contemporary modern living to give warmth and comfort in the heart of wild and wonderful countryside.

Insulated with sheep wool for warmth, a wind turbine provides electricity, and an Eco friendly ‘Pellet Boiler’ provides the heating and hot water. A natural reed bed cleans the waste and provides clean water for the wild life pond. Bluebell banks in the spring and wild flower meadows in the summer, buzzards, swallows, curlew and lapwing overhead provide all the ingredients of a memorable idyllic holiday location.

Ground floor
Spacious open plan dining kitchen with electric cooker,  oak floor, full height dining area with stone features and open beams. 2 bedrooms - 1 double bedroom (with zip and link beds twin or double to suit) + single bed settee. 1 twin bedroom (can be twin or double to suit). Bathroom with shower over bath, WC, wash hand basin and heated towel rail. Impressive oak staircase and gallery from dining area to:

First floor
Galleried sitting room with Pellet boiler/stove in stone feature, open beamed ceiling, corner sofa suite, single bed settee and french window with small Juliet balcony. 1 double bedroom with en-suite shower room with shower, WC and wash hand basin.

Facilities
Electric cooker, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster. Automatic washer, iron/ironing board. Digital colour TV, books/games. All electricity and fuel included in the rent. Travel cot available. Central heating and hot water from stove. Bed linen and towels provided. Shaver points. Patio. Table and chairs within grounds. Ample parking. No smoking in the property please. Sorry no pets.

NB There is use of a small field with a wildlife pond but children must be supervised at all times.
