Your itinerary

DAY 1

Depart late evening with British Airways from Heathrow overnight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival, transfer to the Emperador Hotel for a two night stay. You are at leisure to explore this cultural capital of the southern hemisphere.

DAY 4
Transfer back to the airport for your flight south to Ushuaia and an overnight stay the Los Yamanas Hotel.

DAY 5
This afternoon, embark on the M/V Antarctic Dream to begin your Antarctic voyage. The first two days are spent crossing the Drake Passage. A number of talks, lectures and briefings will be given by the onboard guides and along the way you should see albatrosses, petrels and possibly other marine life. Closer to Antarctica you can expect to see blue-eyed shags, gulls, cape petrels, skuas, snowy sheathbills and Antarctic terns as well as marine mammals including Weddell crab-eaters and leopard seals, orcas, humpback and Antarctic minke whales.

DAY 8
Five full days are spent in and around the Antarctic Peninsula. The first excursions will be at King George Island in the South Shetland Islands. Conditions permitting, visit Potter Bay and Aitcho Island. The first landing on the actual White Continent of Antarctica will be at Neko Bay and Port Lockroy. Next day sail to Petermann Island, where, if weather permits, you will disembark or use zodiacs in Paradise Bay. Also land at Cuverville Island, which besides its dramatic scenery is home to one of the largest colonies of Gentoo penguins and skuas. Before leaving Antarctica, sail to Deception Island on the northwest side of the Peninsula, which is the largest active volcano in the area. During the morning disembark in Whaler's Bay and Pendulum Cove where you can go swimming. A further visit is made to Hannah Point on Livingstone Island which is one of the best places in the Antarctic to see Chinstrap and Gentoo penguins, giant petrels, Wilson petrels, skuas and blue-eyed shags. With luck, also see sea elephants.

DAY 15
Having sailed across the Drake Passage, disembark from your Antarctic adventure in Ushuaia and return by air to Buenos Aires for an overnight stay.

DAY 16
Return to the airport for an early afternoon departure with British

Airways to Heathrow, arriving the following morning.

MEAL PLAN
Prices include breakfast lunch and dinner on board the Antarctic Dream cruise. Breakfast included elsewhere.

ACCOMMODATION
On the cruise, Amundsen Deck cabins have a port-hole; Shackleton Deck cabins are slightly larger and have a window. A small number of suites are situated on the upper two decks. Prices on request. The hotels used are of a four star standard.

GRATUITIES
For the guides and crew on the boat, we recommend tipping at the end of the cruise.

TRAVEL TIPS
You should take appropriate clothing respecting the region's unpredictable weather; including thermals, comfortable shoes, cap, gloves and scarf. As there is the opportunity to swim, you should also pack a swimsuit. Sunglasses and sunscreen should be taken.

NB
All itineraries to the Antarctic are subject to change according to the weather, sea and ice conditions. Safety of all passengers is the paramount concern of the ship’s captain. This itinerary is not suitable for passengers with walking difficulties. The luggage allowance on the flights from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and vice versa is just 15kgs.

The Antarctic Dream has a team of guides and lecturers onboard who will also accompany you on shore excursions. Local assistance is provided in Buenos Aires and Ushuaia.
